Cars Plus & Cycles Plus sign Buy Local Commitment

On Wednesday, February 29, 2012, Cars Plus and Cycles Plus along with 20 other companies signed the Buy Local Commitment. As a locally owned and operated business, we know the importance of supporting Guam-based businesses. We’ve committed to Think, Support, Hire, and Buy Local.  This keeps our dollars circulating through our island’s economy, strengthening our economy one purchase or employee at at time. Encourage your organization to sigh the Commitment today!

So if you have questions or concerns about the safety of your precious cargo’s seat, feel free to stop on by! We’ll be happy to inspect and assist with your child’s safety seat.

Guam Women’s Club Silent Auction & Wine Tasting

We hope to see you this Friday at the Guam Women’s Club’s Annual Silent Auction & Wine Tasting! All proceeds benefit the Sugar Plum Tree and the Guam Women’s Club Philanthropic Fund. Who doesn’t enjoy drinking wine for a great cause?

Guam Micronesia Island Fair

It was a beautiful – albeit super rainy – weekend on Guam, but that didn’t stop fair goers from attending the annual Guam Micronesia Island Fair and Ko’Ko Road Race! Thank you to the Guam Visitors Bureau and Galaide Group for putting on a wonderful event. While we couldn’t anticipate all the rain we had, we surely had a great time.  And great job to all of the Ko’Ko Half Marathoners and Ekiden Relayers!

Guam International Film Festival

Seriously, there couldn’t be anything cooler than spending a weekend watching independent films from around the world, including Guam. Well that’s exactly what we got to do from September 30 – October 2nd, when The Guam International Film Festival took place for the time ever.

When we first heard about this film festival, we couldn’t resist. Local talent, art, community, and a weekend full of indie films? Yes, please! We couldn’t be more proud to support the Guam International Film Festival, and we’re already itching for the next one.

Si Yu’os Ma’ase to Don and Kel Muna,  J.D. Iriarte, and all the Volunteers and Staff for putting this event on for Guam.  It was a breath of fresh air.

Cars Plus donates Guam Maps to Public Schools

If there’s two things we’re passionate about, it’s education and our beautiful island of Guam. So when we laid eyes on Bert Unpingco’s extensive and user-friendly Guam Map, we knew it had to be shared.  That’s why we took the liberty of purchasing over 150 maps from Mr. Tourism himself, and donated them to our Guam Public Schools – elementary up through high school.

So all schools have a large, colorful map to share with their students and can show them villages, great hiking spots, perfect diving spots, and all things good about Guam.

Mr. Unpingco and team did a fantastic job on this map, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with children and teachers.

JFK stops by to say Thank You

If you haven’t been keeping up with the news over the last few years, you probably don’t know what a struggle it was to get JFK’s new campus up and running. To put it mildly, it took a while.  But finally, one of Guam’s beloved high schools is back home and in an absolutely beautiful facility.

One of JFK’s most well-known teachers and biggest supporter, Angelo Andres, stopped by Cars Plus to personally thank Joey Crisostomo (a fellow JFK Alumni) and Cars Plus for supporting their grand opening which took place on August 20, 2011.  It was a wonderful moment for JFK students, faculty, and alumni everywhere, and we are so proud to have been a part of it.

Islanders, study hard and work smart.

Guam Humanities Council Exhibit

As huge supporters and promoters of culture and education, we couldn’t be more thrilled to host the Guam Humanities Council’s Micronesian Question Exhibit.  It not only features work from fellow Micronesians from our neighboring islands, but we had the pleasure of having distinguished scholar, Dr. Teresia Teaiwa here to share some of her work.

We’ll have the Exhibit up for the entire week, so if you are able to swing by our showroom, please do so, and bring the family along! You’ll be happy you did.
